There’s been another manga comparison’s video uploaded to Nico, this time for the 5th preview video. It gives you a real appreciation for the amount of work that was put into just studying the source material. I imagine a whole room of CC2 interns having to skim decades of manga to make sure that the arm position on Narancia’s taunt in just right.
That said, what really impresses me with this comparison is the attention to detail on facial expressions.
Though this one stands out because I’m disappointed I didn’t realize the bubble shield would be based on the shaving scene
And I just think Bruno kicking Josuke in the balls is funny.
In glorious 1080 HD just for us. This is only the first half of the presentation from back on Sunday. The presentation of the new characters, modes, costumes and what have you all presented by a gloriously yelling Yuji Ueda.
Seeing this in HD is great because there’s a lot of details I didn’t pick up from the camcorder one. There’s obviously the voices. Sheer Heart Attack yelling at you to look at him right as it blows you up is a great touch. Hiroshi Kamiya sounds younger that I would have expected for Rohan. Romi Park was a fantastic Koichi pick. Yuuko Sanpei as Narancia, Noriaki Sugiyama as Bruno, and Toshiyuki Morikawa (Kyosuke Nanbu oh my god) as Diavolo are all doing excellent work with their characters too. I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one thinking teleporting for how to use King Crimson in a fighting game. And as much as I liked the transition from Doppio to Diavolo before, seeing now that he was using the frog phone makes it so much better.
I never thought I’d be so excited over Diavolo. I mean, pulling people into the Zipper Dimension is going to be totally awesome, and any time I play Cars will be 10% becoming Ultimate Cars and 10000% squirrel shoot, but I’ve got to see the look on some of the new fans who’re coming in from the anime when the Boss lets me know he wants on this fight from his special hot frog line. I wonder if it’ll change and not always be the frog. Maybe we’ll also get the ice cream!
This game is getting better by the moment. Next stop is should be the new character reveal on the 19th after a slight detour to get a subbed version of this trailer. The blanked picture had the Part 1 background, but I’m really hoping for the Part 6 characters next. Look forward to it!

There it is. PV 5 is already subbed in a show of top level fan speed. Oh, Speedwagon, you’re so charismatic. He basically says everything I want to say about the trailer but with that unique energy you only get from him.
The excitement’s rising, and this game can’t be in my hands soon enough!
It’s pretty late, so I’ll talk more completely about it later, but if you’re really hungry for PV 5, someone was nice enough to bring a camera. The whole thing is up and covered in crowd noise, but you can see the whole thing from the first spinning of the ASB logo to Narancia dropping an Aerosmith brand bomb.

That’s a post late night Joseph snack Dio. The text says “Customize System,” so I’m not sure if that means that that will be a normal costume for Dio or if you can customize him to look like that. It may be both where you get the parts of that outfit in the customizer and can add as you see fit. That may mean that you can only customize characters with their own costume materials, meaning there’s no way to give every character Speedwagon’s hat. We may have to wait for more details.

According to this from the official site, we’re looking at a new character in ten days. That background is Dio’s Castle, so it follows that it’ll be a Part 1 character. The guesses I’ve seen are resting pretty firmly on a Part 1 Dio. I’m not sure how likely that is, but the next most likely candidate is Speedwagon, and I don’t think it’ll be him because he’s part of one of the stages as a background element. I guess we’ll find out in a few days.
A small update, but big news. It’s been a bit since we got one, but a new ASB trailer is coming down the pipe at 5PM JST on the 9th. We were due. The backlog of characters that haven’t been shown off it up to nine if I’m counting right. Since the last PV, Caeser, ACDC, Koichi, Akira, Cars, Rohan, Bruno, Narancia, and Diavolo have all been announced. Famitsu hasn’t come out with their special about Cars and Rohan yet, either, so this PV in a little over a week might be our first chance to see the new Part 5 guys in action.
Excellent sub news includes that it’s supposedly going to be a whopping ten minutes in length and that there will be a special announcement. As per your expectations, some people are already billing it as the incredibly desired Stardust Crusaders anime confirmation. I have no idea if that would be the announcement since, as far as I know, the game and anime aren’t related in development, only in that the voices are consistent. But we can hope, right?
Look forward to the trailer as soon as it comes up. We have an air time this time, so a YouTube video shouldn’t be too far off from next Sunday.
