JoJo Faces and JoJo Voices

Posted in Anime Seasons, JoJo's Year, Spring 2014, Videos with tags , , , , , , , , , on 2013/12/18 by OnePixelJumpMan

Just to let you know, the Araki-JoJo site has released new, higher res versions of the pictures from the Part 3 Anime special spread. They also come with one extra face, so Polnareff gets to look like something other than super worried about something. He doesn’t get to look tough, mind you, but more than worried.

You can see all those pictures here.

But that’s a little sparse for a post, so let’s talk about voice work. A new Tumblr has opened up celebrating aspiring English fan voices for JoJo’s. You’ve got the above, Gyro’s immortal smack talking, Dio on Jonathan from Over Heaven, and a few more. The place is super new, as in it opened about 3 days ago, so there’s not tons of content yet, but that book reading is very effective in selling how twisted Dio’s mind is.

You can check out and kerp track of this fan working here.

UJ December Annoucement on Stardust Crusaders

Posted in Anime Seasons, JoJo's Year, Spring 2014, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2013/11/19 by OnePixelJumpMan

Lots of rumors going around about the new Stardust Crusaders anime. There was supposed to be a massive overhaul of the story, a cast change, probably a few other things. UJ December comes and brings us the new news which has been translated by kecchi Tumblr and kewl of the JoJo forums. Directly quoted:

In a CD bundled with the magazine, the staff also indicated that the anime will differ in some aspects from the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle PlayStation 3 video game. The cast for the anime will be announced at the Jump Festa 2014 event on December 21 and 22. The staff of the anime also revealed in the magazine that since the art style changed from Part 1 to Part 2, they want to do the same thing with the change from Part 2 to Part 3. In addition, a compilation of the anime adaptation of Part 1 and Part 2 will air on Japanese television on New Year’s Day.

Director Naokatsu Tsuda and series director Kenichi Suzuki are once again overseeing the anime at David ProductionYasuko Kobayashi is in charge of the series scripts, and Masahiko Komino is designing the characters.

-A focus on action (Stand fights)
-Since Speedwagon won’t be there, who will have the commentator role?
-The main cast for part 3 will be announced at Jump Festa 2014.
-There was a big change in the art style from parts 1-2, so we’d like to do the same this time.
-We’d like to incorporate new elements. (Without damaging the Jojo world-view)
-The fundamental principals are the same
-We’d like to do things in the anime that Araki-sensei couldn’t do in the manga.

The bolding is mine as those are the things I figure are likely to cause the biggest stink. The art style shift, both from the first anime and from ASB, shouldn’t really cause too much surprise. There is precedent for the difference between pre and post Stand days, and you can already see the differences between the anime and ASB cropping up by comparing Jotaro from ASB and Jotaro from the anime site. The voice actors shouldn’t cause too much worry. It doesn’t follow to me to abandon the ASB cast entirely when they’re right there, so I imagine a lot of the new cast announcements are for non-ASB characters like Holly or almost all the enemy stand users.

No, I’m more interested in the “new elements” and ‘things Araki couldn’t do.” Those are fine ideas at face value. JoJo’s has changed a lot over the years, so there’s nothing wrong with bringing some of that influence where it could be used to embellish Part 3. Most conversations I’ve seen comparing the anime to the old OVAs was that a new anime would properly juice the FAB unlike the OVAs, and the fashion element only became stronger as the series progressed. But we don’t want that to eclipse the Part 3 we’re all fond of. And “things Araki couldn’t do” are only really valuable if they were things Araki would have done or would do now if he could. You don’t have to follow what he did to the letter, but you have to stay in the same spirit.

But we should trust davidpro. They really came through for us in the first two Parts, and those had their share of changes too. Plus, Yasuko Kobayashi’s in charge of the scripts, and she’s all right.

Stardust Crusaders Anime Official Site Open and 2014 Airing Confirmed

Man, Jotaro, have you got some slim feet. I think it’s those school shoes. And now that I look closer at Star Platinum, I might have been wrong about them using the purple coloring scheme. I thought it was weird they would pick that because it’d be out of sync with ASB, but now that I look closer, I think that might just be a purple aura that’s particularly in the face. The arm looks that green color.

The JoJo’s The Animation official website has changed over to the Stardust Crusaders form with this lovely duet of Jotaro and Star Platinum. This is pretty much the whole site at this point. There is some news, but it’s just what I just said and that the anime will officially begin airing in 2014. I think some winter season anime does air in January, but I’m pretty sure that means we’re looking at a spring release. Not a bad thing. Spring tends to be in the stronger half of the year along with fall season, so hopefully this will mean great things.

Keep an eye on Stardust Crusaders news here. I’m hoping we get info on the OP, ED, and lead composer soon. Who would be a good one for Part 3? Kow Otani?

Stardust Crusaders Official Anime Announcement Jump Scan

Posted in JoJo's Year, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , on 2013/10/16 by OnePixelJumpMan

Just in case you hadn’t gone mad with anticipation from yesterday, here’s the scan from Jump itself to make sure you know that all your current dreams are slowly coming true. Stardust Crusaders is getting an anime by davidproduction. You get to see anime Jotaro and Star Platinum. You get to know that all the old crew are back. Also, it looks like they’re using the purple Star Platinum? That’s odd since ASB used the green and blue one, and this will almost certainly carry the same voice actors. Good lord, this means that I’m going to get to hear a full fledged performance of Abdul by Masashi Ebara. This is a good day.

That date is about Jump Fiesta. We’re still waiting on an official airing date. Excitement mounts anyway, though, huh?

An Arrow and Three Words. A Very Key JoJo’s Vol. 9 Blu-ray Comparison.

I take it everyone remembers this? Just a little picture of Jotaro that launched hundreds of claims that the Part 3 anime was right around the corner, but it’s been pretty quiet about that ever since. There were those trading cards, but that was just a drawing style thing. There was those other pictures of Jotaro, but those were an April Fool’s prank. There’s the rebroadcasting on BS11, but that’s more a hopeful sign than a definite confirmation.

On the other hand:

This is from the teaser part of Episode 26 as contained in the Vol. 9 blu-rays that’s been making it’s way around. One graphic, and it’s the strongest confirmation we’ve gotten yet. It isn’t necessarily a “We will do it” sign, but it basically is. It even is a literal sign stamped onto the episode. There’s still no confirmed date or pictures or anything, so it’s probably still a good idea to be cautiously optimistic, but if you’re going to parade around anything while calling Part 3 anime, this is that thing.

Hope to see everyone with their bags packed for an Egypt road trip maybe around late spring?
