Now that’s a PV. Gameplay, new modes, and we learned so much. As we knew before, there are the three story modes between the core three characters of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, though it looked like there might be a playable Levi at times because of the fight with the Female Titan in the giant forest. There may only be the story focus on those characters, but there may be times where you play as other characters as would be appropriate or for that stealth minigame where you have to steal meat tubes from behind titans as Sasha.
Speaking of, we know the game will contain the Armored and Female type titans as special units. Female I expected as maybe the final boss of Eren’s story. Armored not so much, but it looks like they’re going to be key units among the general titan population in World Mode. World Mode is where you create your own character using model pieces from the characters already in the game. There are custom outfits, as you can see a character in a bikini, so I hope that someone will be able to get Squish Delish the Titan Killing Clown.
The big thing for World Mode and the game as a whole is the weapon variety. Spike Chunsoft could have just juiced the hell out of the 3D gear movement and probably been pretty successful, but they’re pushing for more weapons, especially guns. I’m pretty sure I saw a shotgun in there, and you can see Eren or a similar custom character carrying what looks like Musha Gundam’s flintlock rifle. Sets up combos because you can knock a titan over then cleave the neck to save on gas and swords. I imagine that the limited gas and blades for the gear will either work like the Unity game where there are pickups or where there’s a specific place for pit stops.
Oh, and Titan Eren. I assume that that will be limited to the story mode because balancing that in World Mode would be nightmarish, but it’s cool. I look forward to seeing many a YouTube video of how far you can punt titans across the Trost map. Or bounces in the forest map.
Attack on Titan: Wings of Humanity’s End will launch on December 5th.
