ASB Time Stop Commercial Making Of

Posted in JoJo's Year, Videos with tags , , , , , , on 2013/08/26 by OnePixelJumpMan

NamcoBandai posted this short making of one of the ASB commercials from before video on their account. I was wrapped up in how cool I thought it was, so i didn’t really give any thought to how they pulled off the commercial when I saw it the first time. I wouldn’t have thought they’d used primarily practical effects with actors and props held up with wires. There is a fair amount of CG touched up later for the commercial, but only for the small things like glass, dishware, and liquids. I can’t imagine what that must have been like during shooting to be one of the actors, especially the people completely off the ground, which is a lot of them. It’s a lot of work for a shot that lasted about 9 seconds. Very cool.

Though You Could Pose at Me by Pretending to Be a Woman in a Restaurant

Some new ASB Commercials. The second one is pretty normal, cool yelling and lots of action from the game, and second one has a totally awesome time stop effect. Shouldn’t have taken the pose and jumped in the air, lady. That was a dead give away for being Dio. And that guy was way too smooth looking with his pose not pull Jotaro Time and catch you. Should have pretended to be a bird. Jotaro shouldn’t even know what that one looks like.

JoJo Blu-Ray Volume 2 Changes and Improvements

Ready for a few more changes? It gets shiner and more violent as we go on. Someone on Nico Video was cool enough to upload a comparison video between the original broadcast and the episodes on Vol. 2, episodes 4, 5, and 6. You’ll need to follow the link because it’s visible through Polsy and I can’t embedded it, but here’s a few quick shots I grabbed.

Most of the changes are in the censorship, like with Jack the Ripper coming out of the horse, or tuning up, but the Wine Ripple Cutter looks like they just redid the whole clip for how much more attractive it looks. I know it’s mostly particle effects and shininess, but it’s so dull in the TV version. It’s incredible how the comparison looks so much better.

Pose After Me: How to Raise a JoJo’s Fan

Posted in JoJo's Year, Videos with tags , , , , , , , , on 2013/02/09 by OnePixelJumpMan

Remember that 500 person JoJo’s posing event that was covered by ZIP in their JoJo special? Guess what wasn’t in that special.

This is by far the most adorable thing that has ever happened in this fandom. YouTube user 康一 杜王, or Koichi Morioh, has been uploading videos of his son as he raises him to be a JoJo’s fan. This was their trip to the Tokyo Dome to participate in the JoJo Radio Exercises with the other 500 fans. That Jotaro cosplayer patting his head while he poses and then goes ORA is just incredible.

But that’s not all. This kid’s fandom doesn’t stop at posing in the Tokyo Dome. This is about reading manga and picking out figures and other memorabilia. Considering his age, I wonder if his dad was using JoJo’s as a way to help teach his son how to read. He can identify JoJo manga from the spines, though that might be from the logo. Either way, he may be the coolest 3 year old ever, and just wait until the end when he does the JOOOOOOOJO from “Sono Chi no Sadame” at the end if you’re not on board with that.

JoJo Royale Stage 6 End; Stage 7 GO!

Another Stage of JoJo’s Royale is closed and the winner of Araki’s drawing desk is being determined. I think it might be because BLOCK was such a simple, approachable concept, but this Stage got more entries than any previous Stage so far. The personality and creativity here is really high, and what people were able to do is really impressive. Here’s a few of what I think are outstanding entries.

Typing on this keyboard will drastically increase your typing speed.

And I couldn’t leave out the entry by our very own DoubleGomez.

It reads “Scary Monster”

You can see the full gallery of BLOCK entries here.

With the closing of one stage comes the opening of a new stage. JoJo Royale Stage 7: POP

The POP competition is for you to create a sign encouraging people who’ve never read JoJo’s before to go out to a bookstore and pick up a copy to read. Obviously, this only applies to Japanese bookstores, but don’t think you need to advertise in Japanese.

Funny Valentine speaks in such an elegant font

A little MS Paint and some elbow grease could put you well on your way to winning a few Stone Ocean Memorabilia: A diorama of Jolyne in her prison cell, the satchel of Stand Discs, the carrier pigeon that returned the Star Platinum Disc to the Speedwagon Foundation, and this adorable crocodile with a bow puppet.

You can post your entries here at the Google Plus page for Stage 7. The deadline is March 1st, 8PM Japanese Standard Time. Good luck!

I’ll Trade You a Jotaro for Your Ultimate Cars

Have you seen the new JoJo’s TCG? It comes in Part 1:

It comes in Part 2:

And it even comes in Part 3:

I wonder, if because they used anime only pictures, you could consider this an early preview of Stardust Crusaders anime designs, especially on Jotaro. I also love how “ORA” and “MUDA” are plastered all over the back of Star Platinum and The World.

You can find the whole card listing at the official Project Core site. (edit: That page no longer has the listing of cards for whatever reason. I’ll leave the link for completeness sake, but you can find an image group of some of the now missing cards at this Tumblr page)

(Thanks to Yaraon for finding this)
