Attack on Titan Wings of Humanity’s End PV/TVCM 1

Just a tiny, little TV commercial to wet your anticipation for the game. Attack on Titan: Wings of Humanity’s End‘s first video video demo, and it’s not particularly comprehensive. Just some anime, some Colossus Titan graphics, and some 3D gear flipping around. The flipping around looks nice. I’m interested if Eren’s, at least I think that’s Eren, repeated front flip cut, I guess his version of the Jaeger Slam, is contextual kill or something you fully control. There’s a quick slide kick, it looks like. That probably isn’t an attack, because what are you doing by kicking a titan in the toe, but may be like the Unity 3D game where you slide to keep momentum so a titan doesn’t come up and kick you in your entire body. 3D movement does look like it will be fun and fast paced, but I’d like to see it in demo so we can see how well it controls.

The game launches December 5th at around $60. If it’s good, I still have hopes for us getting a full, English release.

And don’t blink.

Yeah yeah, Hanji’s terrifying. Then what happened?

Titan Blu-ray Vol. 3 Episodes 5,6 and 7 Blu-ray Comparison Shots

Time for another visit from the correction fairy. There are more overall corrections as Vol. 3 covers episodes 5, 6, and 7, but 5 contains the most overall correction. It actually contains more corrections than 6 and 7 combined. To that end, all the pictures I’ll show you here come from that episode. Episode 5 was pretty heavy, both in animation demand and in how it stands to audiences, so I guess it makes sense that it would need all the attention.

There’s still adjustments like this where someone’s expression shifts a lot. There aren’t any like last sets Eren’s “Duh” face being replaced with actual emotion, but here he does look more angrily focused instead of murderous high. The shadow is a bigger, stranger error. The shape I at least get, but I’m guessing that someone forgot for a second that the shadow and the background weren’t on the same layer. Oh well.

There are also still ones like this where two shots look entirely unrelated. Likely, the above was used to save time and the lower one was the actual, intended shot. There are some of these in this comparison set that are so different, they can’t actually be compared in one-to-one shots as animation has shifted so much. There are also some comparisons during the Mikasa’s childhood flashback that are solid black against something actually being there.

But a lot more of the comparisons are like this. Simpler drawing adjustments, shadow reduction or increase, redone color palates, and facial adjustments that give the show overall a more dynamic look. You see a lot of them on the 3D gear swords where they’ve been changed to have greater shine/sheen on the blade. Look how much more vibrant ‘Ole Grandpa Titan is now compared to that washed out and gray shot from before. And when shadows are added, it does help to cover some of the weaker CG.

You can check out the whole list of comparisons on Yaraon.

“Attack on Titan: Wings of Humanity’s End” on 3DS Launch Date Announced

Posted in Attack on Titan, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , on 2013/09/18 by OnePixelJumpMan

A little while ago, there was announcement of a Titan game on 3DS. There wasn’t too much to say about it aside from a few screens of titans from low angles, but now we have a little more to work with. With the popularity behind the original comic, the anime, and the blu-rays, they’re looking to go further with the Titan name and make a 3DS game. Reportedly, the game is an action type game that seeks to replicate the high speed action of the 3D Maneuver Gear as seen in the anime. There will be a Story Mode and Multiplayer support that uses creatable characters with up to 4 people at the same time. The game will apparently take a mission based format with plenty of titan murder and the occasional rescue of NPCs, probably both civilians and fellow soldiers. At the very least, you’ll be able to play as the core three of Eren, Mikasa, and Armin, though Eren and Mikasa are the primary characters outside Story Mode.

Squad combat with others sounds fun. Rescuing NPCs sounds like it could be a real bitch. Rescuing fellow teammates in a multiplayer session sounds like a good idea, but also like a good way to piss off your friends if you’re having a rough time with the game. There’s no word on whether or not there will be non-town environments as those have been the only ones shown in screen caps, but if there’s a distinct story mode following the anime probably, then there should also end up being field and forest environments. I could see battling the Female Titan being a climactic final boss for Eren’s story, though it sounds like they’re going full 3DMG without any going titan mode. And that’s where it all comes down to. If they manage to make using the 3DMG as fun as it looks to be in a video game and lets us screw around flying along buildings, then rescuing people can be as annoying as it wants. Can’t hear your death screams, NPC. Too busy launching myself into the sky at 300/mph.

The game is set to launch on December 5th. If the anime does well here, we may even get it.

“And that’s why I had to get away for a day. Anyway, how’s the Scouting Legion treating you?”

“Wh-What? What is it?”

“I was almost crushed to death.”

“I’ve been eaten twice now!”

“And that’s why I’m in the Military Police to this day.”

Hey, look what came out in time enough to be useful!

The 57th Outside the Walls Expedition was always secretly a strategy to capture titan shifters. Specifically to lure out titan shifters who may have already been living inside the walls. Due to the failure of this mission, Chief Irwin and the rest of the returning Scouting Legion that went on the mission are being called back to the capital with the decision of what to do with Eren looming darkly over them all. As they must pass into the central capital, their movement will be watched and guarded by the Military Police, and there we will meet and old friend.

Hiroshi Seko! It’s been so long since I’ve had to type your name for the Screenplay credit, but there you go. Even in this late stage, we still get to pull in new people. Storyboard is by Daizen Komatsuda, who’s done storyboards on Eva 2.0 and 3.0, two episodes of Panty and Stocking, and two episodes of ROBOTICS;NOTES. Not just him either. Episode is directed by Hirokazu Yamada, director of four episodes of Cowboy Bebop. And we have an absurd amount of animation directors, 7 in total. People you have seen before on this show: Hitomi Hasegawa, That’s it. Everyone other than her is totally new to this game. Youko Satou, animation director for Gintama. Masayuki Fujita, episode animation director on a number of things including Majestic Prince. Yuka Sugisaki in her first AD gig, but she has a few Key Animation jobs from episodes here and there. Masashi Nomura, occasional AD for Da Capo but also a Key Animator for JoJo’s: The Animation. And they’re just the people I can find things about. There’s also Sera Kouta, but all I find when I look up the name is a listing for Highschool DxD New, and Kim De Hoon who I can’t find anything on at all. That’s a lot of people being pulled in for this episode.

The Smell Evokes a Light Nostalgia for Home with a Hint of Fujoshi Fanfiction

They’re making a Titan Brand Perfume. At first, I thought it was just a gag because that image looks like it was made in Paint, but preorders are already being taken, and page for the different types are already up with descriptions of each different scent down to their different notes. The perfume will come in Eren, Mikasa, and Levi each with varying scents. The Levi one is particularly funny as the top will smell of fresh soap. Eren and Mikasa both have cedarwood and musk in their base which may be intentional because of their sibling relationship. Each bottle will be 30ml and cost ¥5,775 (~$58.) The perfume will launch on October 26th.

Oh, and since we’re talking about Titan anyway, here’s a thing from the other day.

The order of the images, owed to the Titan thread,  from right to left and top to bottom goes as such:

Eren: Oda Eiichirou (One Piece)
Mikasa: Masashi Kishimoto (Naruto)
Armin: Raiku Makoto (Zatch Bell!/Konjiki no Gasshu)
Annie: Toriyama Akira (Dragon Ball)
Levi: Shinjou Mayu (metric shitton of shoujo manga)
Jean: Sorachi Hideaki (Gintama)
Sasha: Hanasaki Akira (Oishinbo, a manga about eating tons of stuff)
Connie: Takahashi Youichi (Captain Tsubasa)
Marco: Sakura Momoko (Chibi Maruko-chan)
Hanji: Maya Mineo (Patalliro)
Reiner: Hara Tetsuo (Fist of the North Star)
Berthold and Connie: Hasegawa Machiko (Sazae-san)
Christa: Miuchi Suzue (Glass Mask)
Ymir: Aoyama Gosho (Case Closed)
Irwin: Araki Hirohiko (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

There’s no word on whether or not this is official, so I’d just assume it isn’t, but it’s no less cool. My favorite is Reiner. He just looks so correct drawn that way.

Attack on Titan Episode 21 “Hammer ~57th Outside Expedition Part 5” Teaser Images

A lot of the Titan anime was building to this arc, and a lot of this arc was building to this episode. This is one of the powerful ones emotionally and action wise. It’s a good experience. But talking about why would be spoilery as fuck, so let’s just have fun with goofy faces like normal.

Dude, what the fuck am I doing in this forest?

Ok, you’re ok. You just need to get back home.

Gross! A soldier touched my foot!

All right, just a quick left here and I-

Dude, what the fuck is your problem!?

Come on, man. Just put a big ole smile on your face like me!

… I have got to stop coming here.

You can see the rest at Yaraon, but be warned if you haven’t seen the episode yet.

And don’t forget to check out this weeks Titan 4koma.

You know what we haven’t had in a while during these?

Sasha Time

Hmm, Sasha, huh? Can she handle the spotlight?

What!? No! It’s my turn! Petra Time!

Huh? What? Me!?

Damn it! They’re calling me, and I haven’t even had my post brunch steak yet!

Uhh… Instead of me, wouldn’t you rather see… the female titan getting shot repeatedly in the ass?

Not the ass! No!

We’ll save you, mama!

You can see them all over at Yaraon.

Titan Blu-ray Vol. 2 Episodes 3 and 4 Blu-ray Comparison Shots

With a new blu-ray comes the double-edged sword of blu-ray corrections. On one hand, it would be nice if mistakes like this weren’t made in the first place. On the other, at least they’ve been corrected at some point or another. WIT caught a lot of flack for its animation issues in the time before the recap episode break, but that wasn’t until around episodes 8 and 9. So what’s going on in these episodes?

These pictures are not from a Nico video, so I’ve added the TV/BD label myself.

Some you might not need that help with.

You can now actually see the grain lust deep in her eyes

You can see a whole ton of fixes over on Yaraon. You’ll end up seeing a lot of them like this and the face fixes. The ones where the two shots don’t seem to be related at all I assume are replacements to sweeping stills and closeups on easy animations like a person’s non-moving face instead of a harsh lecture on how you’re going to get murdered. Fixes like that are far more drastic, and, if they compare the way that video comparing the MBS to Fukuoka broadcast do, it means that the new blu-ray animation is the way it was intended. Now there’s just time to have finished the work.
