There’s going to be a new Getter Robo. Excuse me. I’ll be in the corner going fucking insane with excitement, but understand. There’s going to be a new Getter Robo!
Ok, so, what does it say? This is a new show because it’s Getter’s 40th anniversary. I fully expect a forward along the lines of “In Memory of Ken Ishikawa.” It’s a collaboration between Dynamic Pro and Sentinel Co, so there’s bound to be tons of figures. The “Concept Design” is credited to Go Nagai. I don’t know if that means he’s being credited with the original idea of Getter instead of Ishikawa or the two together, or if that means he created the idea for whatever the show will be about personally. The robot designs are credited to “NINNIN (XELFLEX)” who I don’t know anything about. It’s all coming out next year. Oh, and the bottom thing in quotes says “Dino Getter.” Dino Getter was a special Getter machine robot built by the new Dinosaur Empire to keep pace with the Getter Arc team. They would later go as support to that team when they went through the portal to see Getter Emperor’s war path across the cosmos!
Do you understand? If this is anime uses that machine, it might be using that storyline. If this anime is using that storyline, then we might not just be getting a new Getter anime. We might be getting a Getter Robo Arc anime, so we might be getting an ending to Getter Robo Arc. And if Go Nagai worked on the storyline himself, that means that it’s official from Dynamic Pro.
I can’t contain it. I’ll just let you know when something else comes up. I don’t like CG Robots, but I’ll deal if this uses them. I really hope that guy who worked on Gurren Lagann that really liked Getter, I think Kazuki Nakajima [Edit: Sorry, Kazuki Nakashima], works on this.
[Edit: All right, now that I’ve had some time, I’ve gotten a few new bits of information. NINNIN is this guy. He’s a designer, a lot of what you’ll see on that Pixiv are mosters for Cardfight Vanguard, and these are his designs. These actually are the “Dino Getter” mentioned in the quotes at the bottom, so that isn’t a tease for a later Dino Getter design. These designs were used for figures at Wonder Festival this year, but the poster still bills it for 2014, so we can still probably count on the anime. It just probably won’t be Arc like I was hoping. Oh well, I’m still into it.]
[Edit 2: Man, it’s been a while since this came up. Important news! Nothing so far has confirmed this as an anime for this year of 2014. When the poster came down the pipe, we all got a little overzealous about the prospect of a new Getter anime, and I got swept up in the tide. I didn’t think this story would have so much persistence, so I didn’t change it once news stopped coming out, but since it has, I’ll be clear. There has been no confirmation or official announcement of a new Getter Robo anime. Sorry for the confusion. I’m also pretty sad about it. I’ve also changed the title to further alter confusion.]
