There’s my boy. Or can you say that Cars is a boy at this point. I’m still disappointed that the SEX USELESS doesn’t shoot out of his crotch as a sound effect, but seeing it down there in all caps as part of this scene pulled directly from the manga makes me pretty happy.

I’m not doing tons of preview images here because we’re busy with the con, but you can always check out all of them at Yaraon.

Ahem, if I may. FUCKING PIRANHAS! FUCKING PIRANHAS! FUCKING PIRANHAS!

For the honor of all JoJo and also GeJo!

So yeah. That’s all right? Yeah, I’m wondering about the special announcement too. I haven’t seen anything on Yaraon, forums, JoJo Twitter, or the anime official site other than that the Vol. 4 Blu-rays are now up on Amazon and a wild comment on Yaraon mentioning wondering about Part 3. We may have to wait until the subs come out because it’s inline or something that wouldn’t show up in screenshots. Don’t worry. It’ll come.

And Cars, who fell to Earth as a nearly invincible superman, has become a truly invincible living god to whom certain human or even pillar men things may now be useless. Joseph employs the Commandeered Nazi Airplane variant on Joestar Ultimate Secret Technique to buy enough time to figure out how to beat the unbeatable. Cars is in hot pursuit. What is Joseph going to do?!

I think the animation is important in this episode. One Director and Storyboarder, Kenichi Suzuki, and one screenwriter, tokusatsu lady Yasuko Kobayashi. The normal amounts for those jobs, but not one, not two, but a whopping five animation directors! Tatsuya Shirashi, Manabu Akita, Shinichi Machida, Kyoko Kotani, and Ryo Kobayashi. Every single one is a previous staff on the show working with animation direction. I guess when it’s Piranha o’Clock, you have to bring in the cavalry.

Episode 20 “Caeser’s Lonely Past” Preview Images an Synopsis

I like this image set.

Joseph and Caeser’s little interaction is great just like it was back when Caeser was first introduced in a preview image set. Their expressions make it look like Caeser just fucked up, Joseph laughed at him for being stupid, then Caeser flipped him off because he’s such a jerk. Poor Wham’s just sitting around wondering when they’re going to stop so he can get back to kicking Caeser’s ass.

I’m just going to wait for that one guy to upload the “Next Episode” preview to get bigger pictures if there are any. It’ll just look better in the long run.

The synopsis is somewhat vague about details. Caeser needs to defeat Cars because of family history going to back to his father, Mario Zeppeli. This is why he recklessly charged into Cars and Wham’s stronghold despite Joseph’s insight at the end of Episode 19. He fights Wham, but Wham is able to “manipulate the flow of wind,” like Cars and “the flow of light.” Caeser draws on his training and growth with Joseph to release an ultimate ripple to explode Wham. No really. It says straight up “Explode Wham!!” It’s been said many times, but I really do love the staff’s attitude.

The Staff is all well tread ground: Toshiyuki Kato is directing and storyboarding like all previous episodes he’s directed; Yasuko Kobayashi, who you may remember is a big time tokusatsu writer, is writing the screenplay; Manabu Akita and Masahiko Omino are handling animation direction. Everyone here has been on staff for at least two episodes previously except for maybe Kobayashi who I only remember being on one off hand, though she’s also on series composition so that’s not a big deal. Akita and Omino are working together again like back in Episode 13, “JoJo vs. The Ultimate Lifeform.” That had some of the best animation used to really good effect to sick me the fuck out, so this one is going to be pretty. Or pretty nasty.

Episode 16 “Ripple Teacher Lisa Lisa” Teaser Images

Sometimes these JoJo images become almost like internet memes because of how they look.

I really hope this isn’t one of those time. I mean, look how upset it’s making ACDC.

It really is JoJo Friday, isn’t it? As always, you can see more teaser images at Yaraon, but spoiler warning. I like this image set a lot because, since they have no context if you don’t already know the story, you can make up a little story to go with them

“Hah. You think your oar trick is something? I’m a Joestar, lady.”

“I’d like to see you come up with something even close to this.”

“Oh, Joseph. Are you even trying?”

“Your next words are, ‘How am I supposed to compete with FAB on that level?!'”

“How am I supposed to compete with FAB on that level?!”

This episode’s going to be fun just to look at.

Episode 16 “Ripple Teacher Lisa Lisa” Preview Images and Synopsis

I didn’t know until now that Lisa Lisa lived in Castlevania.

It’s been a bit since I’ve read the Battle Tendency manga, but I don’t remember it being that imposing. I remember it being that big and shaped like that, so it must be the team showing off their already obvious color skills.

The synopsis is actually pretty straightforward and what you would expect from a shonen mentor intro episode. Caeser and Joseph can’t beat Wham and ACDC, so they have to go find a legendary master, Lisa Lisa. Her training is really hard and Joseph thinks she’s a jerk and wants to punch her in the face, but he can’t because she’s so much stronger than him. If I didn’t know better, I might consider this episode a little plain by JoJo standards, but I know about the corrective breathing mask and razor water in the death pit. I’m sure it’ll be fine.

Staff is mostly people we’ve seen. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu on screenplay, Manabu Akita, animation director for episodes 2 and 9 and key animator for those plus episode 11, and Shinichi Machida, animation director for episode 9 and prop creator, team up again on animation direction. The only anomaly is this man directing and on storyboard; Kotaro Togoshi. He’s either really obscure or I’m getting his name wrong. He’s apparently directed an episode a show called Angel Tales, and was producer then storyboarder for two episodes of Detective Boy Kageman. That really doesn’t give me anything to go on, but I’ve seen new people come into this show before with good results. Maybe this’ll be his big break.
