So Jotaro and Kakyoin are in the Bathroom…. JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure SNES English Patch Released!

I was wondering why the last sub set, from a particular group at least, mentioned the Stardust Crusaders SNES game. The English fan patch for the game has been officially released and is ready for download.

As you may come in knowing, the game is a JRPG. Combat is done in the Dragon Quest style where the battle screen is taken up by a view of the enemy rather than the Final Fantasy style where there are sprites on opposing rows, though you do see actions by your characters when taken. Jotaro even gets to start beating school punks with Star Platinum early on. The most unique thing is the way you move. You move in a side-scrolling fashion in a letterbox view which allows the game to keep something of a comic book asthetic. The party is down in the bottom blacked out. It’s easier to see it, which you can with this gameplay demo.

You can also get a taste of the sound. This game has been noted around the internet for having a very nice soundtrack. And now you can experience the full game with a new English patch.

The guy making the patch qualifies it as “not great, but not bad either,” and also as being fairly short but it’s a nice little piece of JoJo’s history, and, while it may not have been much of a fight in the manga, there’s something very amusing about “Facing off with The Sun.” The ROM is pretty easy to find with a quick Google search, so check it out.

JoJo Royale Stage 6 START and Stage 5 Look Back

Stage 5 of the JoJo Royale has ended. The Ena boards are all in. The official site does not list a winner of the replica bow and arrow at time of writing, but the entrants and highlights are all listed on the Google Plus Page. And, wow. Check out some of the top entries.

I’m sure it’s obvious, but it’s really hard to only show off a few of these. I could post 50 of the entries and still feel like I was missing something. The creativity and artistic skill in these is really impressive. Whoever wins, I’ll never guess until I see the entry because I don’t know if I could pick one winner. You can see the full gallery of entries here at the Google Plus site.

Of course, with the ending of one stage comes the beginning of a new one.

Stage 6: BLOCK

The challenge is to make some sort of JoJo’s expression using block materials. The prize this time is Hirohiko Araki’s drawing desk. There are a handful of Lego entries, as you can imagine, but the entries are not limited to that. As long as it’s made of blocks, it’s a legitimate entry to the Stage.

The deadline is February 1st. Post your entries here. Good luck!
