If You Read This Book, You May Just Get to Heaven. Over Heaven English Translations Now Available!

Enter a mind. What is it transcending humanity would do to you?  How would you reflect on the years gone by and the things you’ve learned? About life? About Heaven? About yourself? Well, we’re not transcending any humanities anytime soon, so maybe we can get a glimpse of the idea through everyone’s favorite vampire.

Nishio Ishin’s Over Heaven now has a completed and available English translation courtesy of Hi Wa Mata Noboru Scans’s leader Kewl0210, the guys you may know for doing the HQ scans of JoJolion alongside other popular titles. It is a decent length title. The story alone is just under 200 pages, and it comes along a few illustrations by Araki and an afterword by the author. I wanted to do a little book review like I did with Purple Haze Feedback, but I haven’t had the time to finish it just yet. It’s a very interesting idea to get Dio’s perspective on his childhood as well as his ideals and plans with The World and his followers. The language is a little flowery, I’m sure that’s an aspect of the original and not a translation issue, but not to an intolerable level.

You can find the download links on the Hi Wa Mata Noboru site. Please do give it a shot.

JoJo Faces and JoJo Voices

Posted in Anime Seasons, JoJo's Year, Spring 2014, Videos with tags , , , , , , , , , on 2013/12/18 by OnePixelJumpMan

Just to let you know, the Araki-JoJo site has released new, higher res versions of the pictures from the Part 3 Anime special spread. They also come with one extra face, so Polnareff gets to look like something other than super worried about something. He doesn’t get to look tough, mind you, but more than worried.

You can see all those pictures here.

But that’s a little sparse for a post, so let’s talk about voice work. A new Tumblr has opened up celebrating aspiring English fan voices for JoJo’s. You’ve got the above, Gyro’s immortal smack talking, Dio on Jonathan from Over Heaven, and a few more. The place is super new, as in it opened about 3 days ago, so there’s not tons of content yet, but that book reading is very effective in selling how twisted Dio’s mind is.

You can check out and kerp track of this fan working here.

It’s Raining Scans! Dangan Tenshi One Shot, OPM 21-1 and 21-2, and Over Heaven

Scan surplus. These scans have got to go because there’s just way too many in stock.

First up, Boon Scans has translated the OPM/Dangan Tenshi crossover one-shot. The whole thing is contained up in the picture link. Cute little story about Saitama getting beaten to his namesake. The translation was rolled in with his translation of Chapter 21-2. I’ll go ahead and mention that scan set now because I forgot to mention the translation of Chapter 21-1 when I talked about these raws.

But that’s not all. Kewl0210 over on the JoJo Forums has started translation on Nisio Isin’s original JoJo work Over Heaven. Nisio Isin, who Kewl called a terrible writer, is the guy who’s made absolutely nothing I’ve ever read or seen probably most notably Medaka Box, which Kewl called a monstrosity, so I guess we should expect some terrible monstrosity. The premise is interesting, though. The story is a collection of Dio Brando’s diary entries over the course of his life from before Phantom Blood up through Stardust Crusaders. It covers his mentality, what he thought about certain stands, and the things that happened to him that would lead to his idea of “Heaven.” The idea that was eventually passed on to Pucci so that he could make Stairway to Heaven/Made in Heaven to fulfill Dio’s legacy. He mentions that it’s not a well fulfilled concept but that Dio’s character is done well. Sounds like it’s worth a look to me, but I’ve always enjoyed Dio.

(Thanks to JoJo Tumblr for the picture and finding the post about Over Heaven)
