DUWANG PRINCE KING Special: March on All People! Octo Chick!

DUWANG subs were awesome. Throwing your hat in the ring of a show that already had tons of sub groups is fine, I suppose, but it was cool to see a fan take something they liked to transform it into a big in joke. We had a regular spot on it here, but they eventually dried up right after Episode 7. I heard it was for various reasons like the guy only intending to make the one episode and that he was stuck because he lived where Hurricane Sandy hit. It was too bad because they were fun, and they were a good place to fall back if you were caught in one of those inane subgroup arguments.

Well, a little bit ago, someone left a comment telling me the 8th episode had come out. I checked real quick, but didn’t see anything, but I’ve been watching it ever since, and guess what? I managed to overlook the new episode for a while. Thus, I bring you the new DUWANG:

Shinryaku! Ika Musume or Invade! Squid Girl as it was translated into English or March on All People! Octo Chick as it may come to be known is our DUWANG Subs Episode 8. No, you didn’t turn over two pages at once. It is a complete DUWANGed episode that you can download with what you’ve come to expect.

Yeah, I’m dumbfounded too, and DUWANG forms this veil where it can be tough to tell what’s part of the joke. The low picture quality is certainly that since it emulates the old terrible DUWANG scans, but the audio cuts out the moment dialogue starts, and I don’t know if that’s on purpose. And then there’s the Squid Girl thing itself. Maybe people were pestering him to make more JoJo’s subs, and this was his response to shut people up. Maybe he just wanted to mess with Squid Girl. It is a mystery.

A Titan OVA for August: “Ilse no Techou”

I was passed the big, fancy “This Season’s Anime” Chart for the Summer 2013 season. It’s always fun to thumb through. There’s a lot to look forward to this summer, which is odd because summer is supposed to be one of the weaker seasons, but here we are. There’s the Silver Spoon anime, which is airing in July apparently instead of June like I thought before, the new Ghost in the Shell, Kaze Tachinu, the Danganronpa anime. There’s a set of shows here to get interested in, but on top of all that, we’ve got something big coming down the pipe.

Yay! A new Squid Girl OVA. I only just finished the second series and the first OVA, so that was really good timing. I don’t know what stories their going to pick to animate, but I’m sure we’ve got am absolutely tentacular experience coming. Since it’s coming as a bonus with the Vol. 14 manga, I hope the subbers will be able to get kraken on it soon after it comes out. Maybe someone will be able to order it from overseas to kelp them out.

In August along with the Vol. 11 manga, there will be a special Titan OVA, Ilse’s Journal. Those of you unfamiliar with the manga won’t know who this is yet, but you should by the time the OVA comes out if you stay only following the anime. It’ll be a side story about a yet to have been revealed in the anime character, and it’s possible it’ll offer us some greater level of clarification on her circumstances. And, yes, it is hard to talk about this without spilling the beans on why this is important.

I don’t know yet how much information is going to be in the OVA, or OAD as it says. They may just adapt the chapters that make up the portion of this story from the manga, but it’ll hopefully contain all kinds of new information to fuel the ever burning speculation fire that keeps Titan interest going. Based on the “prologue” term, it’ll probably be the story that would lead up to the manga chapter in question. I guess we’ll see sometime in August or early September.
