JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle Opening Video!

So this is what everyone was praising so much. Yeah, it’s pretty good. I’m always up for jazzy music like this. The visual in the very beginning part with all the protagonists is fantastic. It is as though they watched the anime OPs and said, “We can do that. We already have the models anyway!” The style is emulated pretty well and looks very good. I do love the little detail that Tusk opens the way to the next part of the intro by prying open the walls just like in Johnny’s fight with Valentine. Joseph twirling the JoJo Crackers is always fun. Giorno gets a little glossed over. He’s there with his pose, and then suddenly Jolyne. The intro of the main villains is pretty nice. Seven over all, meaning that Dio gets to go twice, and the darker colors spilling in was a really nice aesthetic touch. And then it’s just everyone kicking some ass. Not a bad way to do it.

I know this isn’t the highest quality version just yet. I’ll replace it if another one comes along or if this one gets taken down. Ten more days, and a lot of you may just have the ability to watch it whenever you want. I take it anticipation is high right now.

ASB League Groups C and D Highlights Reel

Posted in JoJo's Year, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2013/07/10 by OnePixelJumpMan

The Nico recording highlights are up, and I’m starting to sense a trend in these fights.

Group C

Group C was another grouping of stand vs. non-stand. Rohan was  of particular interest to me because when this game was being announced, Rohan was someone I was sure wouldn’t make it into the roster. Heaven’s Door is cool and all, but it didn’t seem like it would be suited to a fighting game.

As before, if you’re waiting for the full stream to see who won, be aware I’m posting the results table below the link to the fight.

Turns out I was totally wrong because Rohan is the taker of today’s first blowout victory. His ability to seal away parts of or all of your attack just destroyed the opposition. Part of that is probably that the CPU doesn’t take into account that they can’t do any moves, so after getting hit with the seal, they’d just sit there twitching while Rohan hits them in the face. That let him get strong rallies where he might have otherwise lost.

Kira vs. Wham was a pretty nice fight because the technique is very key. Kira is suited to keeping his enemies away and picking at them with bombs where Wham is a close range brawler. Once Kira was able to get him away and use Sheer Heart Attack to deal with Wham rushing towards him, he had a better command of the fight, but when Wham was in his guard, there wasn’t much he could do.

Will was fine. His moves are pretty good, and I like that he has a good agility. It just didn’t serve him too well in this fight. Rohan and Kira move on to the Top 16.

Group D

Stand users abound and also a horse, which I think is a fair balance. Based on how well Johnny was able to do with Slow Dancer, seeing Gyro fight on horseback was going to be interesting. Giorno was also important because him having GE Requiem was a cause for concern with how ridiculously powerful it is.

Not that it mattered at all. Not even with that he is invincible while transforming could Giorno get away from being the one shut out in this group. That’s the trend I’m noticing. It’s confusing, though, because his fight with Gyro ends with him getting a counter that knocks Gyro off Valkyrie, but then he loses. I don’t get it.

Koichi is this group’s star. His ability to keep his opponents at a distance is what allowed him to completely control every match. The only person who really had a good beat on him was Jolyne, who is suited to barricading herself while hitting the opponent with her longer than normal range stand shoot. She also combos very well into the baseball move. Koichi’s, I guess, zoning is what makes him able to wreck everyone.

Gyro is somewhat lopsided. He does fantastic while on horseback, completely wrecking Giorno’s shit in the first half of their fight, but the moment he fall off, he doesn’t seem to be able to handle himself as well. This is why Jolyne and Koichi were able to handle him so well, and may be why Giorno lost if he did which I’m not sure about. With their longer range moves, they were able to knock him off very effectively which kept his stronger mode largely held down. Koichi and Jolyne move to the Top 16.

Look forward to the full stream video sometime this weekend and the Groups E and F fights next week.

As a bonus, remember the punchable Friend Frog?

The Third All Star Battle Commercial Has No Weakness!

Posted in JoJo's Year, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2013/03/22 by OnePixelJumpMan

Terrence is starting to lose it. I mean his blood because it’s all being punched out of him.

Despite that I named the article after Kira, the commercial is pretty evenly spread amongst the characters that are mentioned. Kira just gets a slightly bigger scene where he blows up Okuyasu. You get to see him launching Sheer Heart Attack instead of it just being in the air. Good enough for me. Maybe we’ll get to see Another One Bites The Dust soon.

This Pose is my Heritage! All Star Battle Manga Comparisons

Posted in JoJo's Year, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2013/03/16 by OnePixelJumpMan

Did you ever end up playing the game with the ASB previews where you’d try to recognize moves from the manga? How about poses? This is JoJo after all. Well, wonder no more, at least for a few characters. Someone on Nico Video put out a comparison video showing where a lot of the poses for both super cutscenes and just general movement come from. It’s Polsy, so you’ll need to follow the link for the full video, but I grabbed a few pictures.

I couldn’t not put this one in .gif form

This is the best game. That Mista one just floored me. The really impressive ones to me, though, are Johnathan, Gyro, and sort of Will and Giorno because those are just normal moves and not part of any ultras. For Johnathan and Gyro, those are what they look like when dodging. This is the best game.

Make sure and check out the full video for even more comparisons.

(Thanks to Goon Kurtofan for posting this and also probably being the one that put it on Polsy)

All Star Battle PV 4 Subbed! “I’ve taken the meaning out of your language.”

I assumed you guys would be interested in knowing what they were saying. It helps me out. I didn’t know what it was JoJolion Josuke was doing during his Grand Heat, but the friction stealing is cool. Okuyasu calling Giorno names makes way more sense than insulting his topknot that he totally has. His classic style “uurrryyy” is also a nice touch.

(Thanks to JoJo Tumblr for being that chain link. You can see the original post here.)

All Star Battle PV 4! Father vs. Daughter, Gun vs. Gun, Vampire vs. Pompadour, RERO vs. RELA

Posted in JoJo's Year, Videos with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2013/02/18 by OnePixelJumpMan

Yeah, that’s the way to do it. Can we agree that we’re coming into ASB with a little “who’d win in a fight” mentality? The moment Mista and Hol Horse were both set to be in the game, I was thinking about who has the better gun stand. But the stand out rivalry is obviously the all out cage match of Cherries vs. Cheese.

The gameplay that we got to see with the main showcase characters, Johnny, Johnathan, Will, and JoJolion Josuke are pretty interesting. I was wrong about what move I thought would be the On Fire Fist, but we knew it would be there. Zoom punch got my attention because it looks like it sticks for a second instead of retracting immediately. If it does, it could be really awesome for anti-air because an opponent could misjudge the time and still jump into it. Will also has it, so I await my match where we sit across the ring just doing that at each other.

Johnny looks like he’s either going to be the character that’s really hard to use because of his very limited movement when not on Slow Dancer but very rewarding if you can handle him or the character that caters to spamming because he’s going to be projectile heavy. That does follow; his power was shooting his fingernails, but I don’t want that to mean he’ll be the back-up-and-shoot-you character.

JoJolion Josuke I think is going to be the trap/counter character with that all based around the soap bubble. I’ve got to give CC2 some credit for what they used for his moves because you see him using a bunch of soap bubbles as a barrier around his body like the shaving scene. He also does that at a distance, but I’m mostly interested in when the screen goes black. That specific bubble will steal the players’ “eyes” by blacking the screen so whoever’s JoJolion Josuke can get a free hit. That’s going to be really hard to use for human player because it blanks the screen, but there may be more to it than what’s in the PV.

Oh, and Kira. He has Sheer Heart Attack, but that’s all they’re telling us. I figured he would also be a counter/trap character because of the way Another One Bites the Dust works and all the bombs, but it’s not in the PV. At this point, I think we can be clear that Kira is DLC only. The way he’s rolled in with the Hayato Memo Book and the specific mention of PSN in the text on the still intro page (edit: and that he’s listed as such on the official character page.) You gotta buy him extra. If you don’t want to mess with getting foreign DLC, you might want to import fast.

All-Star Battle Trailer Number 3

Posted in JoJo's Year, Videos, Voice Actors with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on 2012/12/22 by OnePixelJumpMan

Remember how I mentioned that CC2 was bringing out a new trailer for ASB at Jump Fiesta?

Here it is. I’m mostly just going to let it speak for itself because me speaking for the trailer would pretty much just be, “AH. DID YOU SEE THE THING WITH THE BASEBALLS AND THE STEAMROLLER AND-” and so on. What I will tell you are the voice actors.

Jolyne Kujo – Miyuki Sawashiro (Celty Sturlson in Durarara!!, Fujiko Mine since 2011)
Hermes Costello – Chizu Yonemoto
Giorno Giovanna – Daisuke Namikawa (Bat in Legends of the True Savior, both Italies in Hetalia)
Guido Mista – Kenji Akabane (Koji Kabuto in Shin Mazinger, I’m not even writing anything else, he was fucking Koji Kabuto)
Sex Pistols – Asami Imai (Kurisu Makise in STEINS;GATE)
Josuke Higashikata – Wataru Hatano (Largan Drace in Gundam AGE, Rufus in Street Fighter 4)
Okuyasu Nijimura – Wataru Takagi (Eiikichi Onizuka in GTO, pretty much every anime character like that and Okuyasu)
Mohammad Abdul – Masashi Ebara (Might Guy in Naruto, Andy in Cowboy Bebop, Andy in Cowboy Bebop because it bears repeating)
Hol Horse – Houchu Otsuka (Yazan Gable in Zeta Gundam, Gen in Giant Robo: The Day the Earth Stood Still)
Noriaki Kakyoin – Kouji Yusa (Shadow the Hedgehog, Urataros in Kamen Rider Den-O)
Jean Pierre Polnareff – Hiroaki Hirata (The Japanese dub actor for Johnny Depp, Sanji in One Piece, Wild Tiger in Tiger & Bunny)
Dio – I’m going to give you enough credit to assume you already know.
Jotaro Kujo – Daisuke Ono (Kenji Kusanagi in Kotetsushin Jeeg, Snow Villers in Final Fantasy XIII)

And that’s the new PV. It’s looking fantastic, the sense of humor they’ve got with the little Josuke and Okuyasu moments, the casting is really good. Now all we need is the characters from Part 1 and hopefully more from Part 7. Then we’ll be set.

My Hero is Dio Brando. He’s the Best in JoJo’s Kart 64

Stop whatever you’re doing. This is adorable.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/ZYQ62.jpg

This is too cute. Like I said, JoJo’s fanworks come out of the woodwork pretty easily now that we’ve got the anime, so I’m not sure how old this is or who did it. Whoever you are, you get all the internet points because that is the sort of thing I fangirl out over.

“But cuteness isn’t what JoJo’s is about,” you say. “It’s about manly men in dangerous competitive cart races with power-ups and Speedwagon as the race announcer.” Ok, maybe you didn’t say that part, but Millio of Orion’s Belt Tumbler did.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/RGYT6.png

Also doesn’t slip on wet ground.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/qPV58.png

The driver is a Dio exclusive projectile weapon.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/UqxBP.png

Were this made, I’d make Giorno spin out as much as possible just to see raccoons scurry from underneath his car every time.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/eVBEM.png

The “Baby Dodging” stat is also maxed out.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/Dtm2L.png

I don’t know if Dio or the car’s engine is going “Muda muda”

To quote the Tumblr, “Polnareff would be a judge also because he’s got reff in his name.”

So you see that CyberConnect2? I expect this as an unlockable bonus game for beating all the All-Star Battle Story Modes. You can even use the same character models and have Wham up there race in his chariot from his fight with Joseph. I wonder how Polnareff-eree would feel about a Chariot racer?

JoJo’s Part 2 Confirmed with Cast! Gameplay images of All-Star Battle’s new cast members.

Whenever I think there’s going to be a drought of JoJo’s news, something comes along to brighten my day. First and foremost, check out this picture.

It’s here. We’re finally getting to see the images of the now confirmed animated adaptation of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 2: Battle Tendency. You can see Young Joseph Joestar there and also who I assume is Caeser Zeppeli, though his hair makes him look a bit like Dio. I’m sure it’s a coincidence. Also, this is a much better drawing than that Part 1 drawing from back before the show started. It’s colorful, it’s shiny, it’s everything that’s making me excited.

And that’s not all. If you look up in the corner, you can see a cast list. Here’s the translated text:

  • Joseph Joestar: Tomokazu Sugita (Kyon from The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Brooklyn “Bullet” Luckfield from Super Robot Wars.
  • Caesar:Takuya Satou (Toshiki Kai Cardfight!! from Vanguard)
  • Stroheim: Atsushi Imaruoka (Dallas Genoard from Baccano!!)
  • Speedwagon: Yuji Ueda (Solf J. Kimblee from Full Metal Alchemist, Crowe Brust from 2nd Super Robot Wars z)
  • Lisa Lisa: Atsuko Tanaka (Mokoto Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell, Viletta Vadim from Super Robot Wars)
  • Wham: Akio Otsuka (Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid, Dr. Black Jack from Black Jack)

Didn’t expect so many Super Robot Wars alumni to be part of this. Needless to say, I am pleased with Joseph being played by the same actor as Bullet. Now that’s credentials.

It’s the guy (primary attacks starting at 2:53)

Top all that off with that we know what the opening is going to be, “Bloody Stream” by Coda. I can’t seem to find much on the singer, but the composer is Toshiyuki Omori. You can check out an example of their work here.

I’d say that’s a pretty good set of news for JoJo’s, but we’re not done yet. Along with all that, courtesy of this Famitsu article, we also now have some gameplay and character model picture of

Josuke and Crazy Diamond

Okuyasu and The Hand

Jolyne and Stone Free

and Hermes and KISS

(All images from Famitsu as you can probably tell from their watermark.)

I just love getting to see the Stands and characters in official colors. I had no idea that KISS was supposed to be gold and purple or that Stone Free was supposed to be a cyan. Or Joylne’s outfit being a cyan for that matter. I really like how gaudy KISS looks. Josuke, Hermes and Okuyasu looking fine as always.

Checking out that article, which I’m linking again, will let you see these guys used in gameplay. Seems that KISS’s splitting power will be used in an ultra. Also, Stone Free gets to pummel people with baseballs.

She looks so offended at the new head.

Bunt! Bunt, you idiot!

And we also see a few new maps: the final battleground with Kira, and what looks like the prison courtyard under Weather Report’s frog rain.

We just got all kinds of information today. I think we still need a map or two for Parts 5 and 7. Think Notorious B.I.G will end up as a stage hazard? Think Magenta Magenta will show up in the background with a stupid face? Only time can tell. Whether or not Magenta Magenta will show up or not. If he does, he’ll have a stupid face, no question.

All-Star Battle’s newest cast members!

Posted in JoJo's Year, Text Articles with tags , , , , , , , , , on 2012/11/09 by OnePixelJumpMan

Oh, right, in the excitement f JoJo’s the Animation and DUWANG subs, I’d almost forgotten about All-Star Battle and being the new JoJo’s fighting game I’ve always wanted. What could be better for a JoJo’s fighting game than more characters from all JoJo’s? The developers seem to think so, take a look at this.

https://i0.wp.com/i.imgur.com/6ITeO.jpg

We already knew that all the main character JoJos would be in there, so Josuke and Jolyne aren’t really a surprise, though it is nice to see them. What’s important is there in the lower left corner. Hermes Costello and Okuyasu Nijimura are confirmed for the game.

I really hope that Okuyasu has his teleportation just as a move and not as a hyper, and I hope that Hermes has a move where she clones her opponent’s tongue so it can fly back and hurt them. Tongue projectiles. A classic Hermes move.

Stop it! Stop spamming you corner sitting asshole!
