It’s finally time. Let’s send the series that’s brought us so much joy off with a bang.

Episode 26 is an episode of moments.

A moment of despair

A moment of true JoJo power

A moment in space

A moment of love

A moment to say goodbye to old friends

And a moment of hope for the future

You can see the rest of the pictures at Yaraon. Hope to see everyone again for our trip to Egypt!

Episode 26 “The Man Who Became a God” Preview Images and Synopsis

It’s been a long road. Across the Earth, across generations, and it all climaxes here on a little volcanic island off the west coast of Sicily. Joseph’s suicide combo attack with Stroheim successfully airplane body slams Cars into the smoldering volcanic crater, but the Ultimate Lifeform is not so easily killed. He comes out of the lava with not so much as a scratch and goes back on the offensive. With half a cyborg, a red rock, and no anti-god ripple overdrives, what will Joseph do to overcome the perfect being?

Trimming down the crew as we head for the end. Storyboard and direction are being handled by Toshiyuki Kato, Screenplay once again done by Yasuko Kobayashi, and animation direction taken care of by series chief animation director Takako Shimizu. She’s also the one who handled general character design and some key animation on the ending sequence. It nice to see her sending off JoJo’s with a little personal touch.

Can you sense it in the air? That feeling of joy that we’re going to see the final climax, but the feeling of dread that this Friday will be the last JoJo’s until at least fall season and may be the last JoJo’s episode ever? I’ve seen a few people say how they both can wait for it and hope it never comes. I sympathize.

Episode 20 “Caeser’s Lonely Past” Preview Images an Synopsis

I like this image set.

Joseph and Caeser’s little interaction is great just like it was back when Caeser was first introduced in a preview image set. Their expressions make it look like Caeser just fucked up, Joseph laughed at him for being stupid, then Caeser flipped him off because he’s such a jerk. Poor Wham’s just sitting around wondering when they’re going to stop so he can get back to kicking Caeser’s ass.

I’m just going to wait for that one guy to upload the “Next Episode” preview to get bigger pictures if there are any. It’ll just look better in the long run.

The synopsis is somewhat vague about details. Caeser needs to defeat Cars because of family history going to back to his father, Mario Zeppeli. This is why he recklessly charged into Cars and Wham’s stronghold despite Joseph’s insight at the end of Episode 19. He fights Wham, but Wham is able to “manipulate the flow of wind,” like Cars and “the flow of light.” Caeser draws on his training and growth with Joseph to release an ultimate ripple to explode Wham. No really. It says straight up “Explode Wham!!” It’s been said many times, but I really do love the staff’s attitude.

The Staff is all well tread ground: Toshiyuki Kato is directing and storyboarding like all previous episodes he’s directed; Yasuko Kobayashi, who you may remember is a big time tokusatsu writer, is writing the screenplay; Manabu Akita and Masahiko Omino are handling animation direction. Everyone here has been on staff for at least two episodes previously except for maybe Kobayashi who I only remember being on one off hand, though she’s also on series composition so that’s not a big deal. Akita and Omino are working together again like back in Episode 13, “JoJo vs. The Ultimate Lifeform.” That had some of the best animation used to really good effect to sick me the fuck out, so this one is going to be pretty. Or pretty nasty.

Episode 14 “Ultimate Warriors from an Ancient Time” Preview Images and Synopsis

Isn’t it nice to see the preview images and know that we only have a few days until the new episode instead of a week and a half?

I like the relationship of these pictures. I like the little staring contest that Joseph and Caeser have going on that lets you know they’re going to be at odds. The synopsis reflects this being pretty much entirely about Joseph and Caeser meeting and the friction between them. It also talks about the other Pillar Men and the ominous words of pre-grenade Stroheim.

Crew is all alumni this time. Toshiyuki Kato is directing, Yasukawa Shougo wrote the screenplay, good news considering the excellent job in the last episode, and Kentoku Tsukuma is back on animation direction. He previously did Episode 7, which I remember having some of the weaker animation thus far. Episode 13 had pretty decent animation, though, so he might just need a chance with a meatier part of the story.
